Most Common Pallet Sizes Used
Wood pallets come in a lot of different sizes but there are industry standards that are the most popular. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has designated several different sizes of pallets. In the United States, however, the most commonly used pallet size is 48×40 inches. This is also the size that is typically used in overseas shipping containers.
The different pallet sizes are:

More than 30% of pallets produced in the U.S. each year are GMA pallets. The next most common pallet dimensions are 42” x 42” and 48” x 48” respectively.
The Consumer Brand Association (CBA) is a global trade association that represents brick-and-mortar retailers, producers of packaged goods for sale in stores or online and logistics companies who services these industries. They suggest standard dimensions for pallets which are 48″ x 40″. Despite their name change at the beginning 2019 GMA stands firm on its original suggestions to keep things simple – there’s no need be confusing with all these other differently sized pails!
There are also some companies that make what are called “oversized” pallets. These are typically 60″ x 48″ or larger. They are used for very large and heavy items such as appliances or building materials. Oversized pallets are typically constructed using materials such as wood, plastic, or metal.
Some companies may have their own custom size pallets that they use for specific products. However, these are typically not used for general shipping purposes.
While wood is the most popular material for pallets, there are also plastic and metal options available. Plastic pallets are typically made from recycled materials and are easier to clean than wood. Metal pallets are more expensive but can be used multiple times without
